Craig Ford
Vice President of Corporate Responsibility, Inmet Mining Corporation, Canada
Dr. Craig Ford is Vice-President, Corporate Responsibility at
Inmet Mining Corporation, based in Toronto. Craig has worked
in the mining industry for 31 years and for the past 17 years has
been involved in environmental, safety, community affairs,
sustainability and human rights issues at mine sites around the
world. Craig holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in Geology
(University of Western Ontario) and a Ph.D. in Geology and
Geochemistry (Colorado School of Mines). Craig joined Inmet
in 2000 and his portfolio includes responsibility for
environmental, safety, community, human rights and ethics issues at
the operating locations and development properties around the
world, and has direct reporting responsibility for Inmet's closed
mining properties.
Craig is an Executive Board member of the Mining Association of
Canada and was closely involved in the development of the Mining
Association of Canada's Towards Sustainable Mining initiative,
where he served as Chair of the Initiative Leaders. He
is a past founding member of the Devonshire Initiative, an
extractives-development organization network established to foster
dialogue and to achieve on-the-ground improvements in development
outcomes, and served on its Steering Committee. Craig was
also involved in the founding of the International Network for Acid
Prevention (INAP), and served as its first Operating Committee
Chair.
