Mike Kontranowski

Senior Market Manager, Dow Building Solutions, USA

Mike joined Dow in 1990 as an Engineering Technician in Michigan Operations.  He has held roles in Purchasing, Sales, and Marketing in Midland and San Francisco.

From 2000-2006, Mike was responsible for growing the California and Nevada markets for Dow Building Solutions as well as being instrumental in developing a commercial roof strategy for growing STYROFOAMTM  extruded polystyrene foam insulation sales in the west. Mike also represented Dow as Vice President of Industry on the board for Construction Specification Institute in San Francisco.

In 2006, Mike returned to Midland, MI accepting the role as Commercial Market Manager for Dow Building Solutions Architectural Markets. As Sr. Market Manager for North America, Mike was responsible for the transition into green building systems that enhance the energy efficiency of commercial structures. Mike also developed the strategy for a key growth initiative in commercial wall applications and the successful launch of THERMAXTM Wall System which was designed to enhance thermal performance, and eliminate air and moisture issues in wall assemblies.

At the end of 2008, Mike accepted the role as Strategic Market Manager for Non-Residential Market segments, and in June 2010 has added the Residential market responsibilities outlining Dow Building Solutions three to five year strategy for successful growth. He will enhance relationships with external Dow Partners for future opportunities and alliances that will result in the growth of sustainable construction designs based on proven building science.

Mike earned a bachelors degree in Marketing/Management from Northwood University and is currently obtaining his MBA from Devos Graduate School, Northwood University.

Outside of Dow, Mike represents Dow and United Way on the board of the Midland Camping Council.

Mike lives in Midland with his wife of 12 years, Kristin and three children, Chase, Kelsey, and Kendall.
