Pascal Mittermaier

Head of Sustainability EMEA, Lend Lease, UK

Pascal joined Lend Lease in October 2010 as Head of Sustainability for EMEA.  In this role, he is responsible for the region's overall sustainability strategy and implementation across the major business areas, including retail assets, development projects, and construction activities.  Building on Lend Lease's strong environmental and community track record, Pascal and his team help ensure that energy, carbon, waste, and water strategies are maximized, that buildings and infrastructure are developed to the latest, highest sustainability performance standards, and that Lend Lease continues driving innovative community programs. 

Lend Lease is at the heart of some of the biggest urban regeneration projects in Europe, including the Olympic Athletes Village and Elephant & Castle in London.  Along with other projects, these developments offer unique opportunities to drive the triple bottom line approach, maximizing outcomes for people, planet, and profit.

Pascal is originally from Germany, studied Economics and History and, over the past 20 years, has lived and worked in France, Japan, Australia, US, Canada, and Italy.  From 2002-2007 he was President of Roche Canada, based in Montreal and from 2007-2010 CEO of Roche in Milan, Italy.  In both sites he implemented many business sustainability programs including new LEED certified office buildings, innovative logistics models, reduction and recycling programs, and clean energy
solutions. Roche built a 10,000m3 PV installation to cover its Milan office car park - the largest in Italy. 

Pascal had a BS in Economics and BA in History from the University of Pennsylvania and an MSc. in Climate Change and Sustainable Development from DeMontfort University.
